Wireframes
Design a video streaming platform which doesn’t require its users to change platforms for watching different content. Create a homepage, video details page and the user settings page of this streaming platform.
This was a design sprint and the brief was taken from a designer friend, hence involves only design decisions and no primary research.
I chose orange as the accent colour to evoke a feeling of rejuvenation after watching content on the platform as orange is associated with warmth, happiness and comfort.
Typeface: LATO
Cards have been successful in conversion and I used it in my design for enabling an intuitive experience, get more information at a glance, reduce page navigation with the help of micro interaction.

Why did I put Podcasts and short films in video streaming platforms?
Why memes have a place in this platform?
Scheduling content? Why?
My reasoning behind the following order of information at the Home page of the platform:
a. to prevent people switching their platform to Spotify/YouTube/Apple podcasts and Apple TV/Google podcasts.
b. I plan to provide subtitles in text document for podcasts to enable users read the conversation whenever needed.
a. engagement due to memes: ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑
People may not engage with comments and reviews but they do engage with memes.
b. Memes will also help assist the recommendation system.
a. people’s experiences with saved content on various platforms say that things they saved into their list in the hope to consume those later, it keeps getting piled up as newer content is coming up at a greater speed.
b. scheduling will be connected with people’s calendar (cron/google/apple, etc.) enabling a better day planning for customers leading to higher trust and hence retention on STREAM’s platform.
1 --> Hero section:
contains the video preview of trending content, clicking on it will lead to its details page.
It also has the user profile tile, to make users’ saved and downloaded content view the pile the first thing the arrive on the home page.
2--> Continue watching:
incomplete tasks grab more attention of the users, and is the first solution if they feel stuck in deciding what content to consume.
Zeigarnik Effect
3 --> Trending lately:
a variety of films, shows and podcasts are the second set of recommendation to solve their confusion and indecisiveness regarding what new to watch that has been trending (new as in the content that isn’t in their watch history).
4 --> Genres:
further solution to users’ confusion.
The animation inside the genre cards will have a range of movies from all eras of cinema, in order to remind them of a movie/show they wanted to watch but didn’t remember.
